Engagements and international partnerships

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)

Dr Sheikh Tawhidul Islam has longstanding relationship with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Thailand) since 2000. He frequently visits AIT, give lectures as guest teacher, play editorial roles in academic journals, do joint research projects. The major partnerships of Dr Islam are taking place with the Department of Disaster Preparedness Mitigation and Management (DPMM).  Dr Islam is also closely connected with Prof. Joyashree Roy who is the Founding Director of South and South East Asia Multidisciplinary Research Network on Transforming Societies of Global South (SMARTS), also was the Inaugural Bangabandhu Chair Professor (2018-2022). Dr Islam worked in the Editorial Board with Professor Roy in the Special Issue of the journal called International Energy Journal published by RERIC, SERD/Asian Institute of Technology.

International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD, Nepal)

ICIMOD (International Centre for International Mountain Development, Nepal) is also a place where Dr Islam has been visiting/working for more than two decades. The initial engagements took place when he was in his early career – at that times he used to participate the capacity development training programs, especially on geospatial technologies. In the later stage, Dr Islam worked with ICIMOD as partner. He also served as an international consultant for the number of occasions.
